30/31 December - Piano and Celeste in Orchestra of Opera North
The Orchestra of Opera North and guests see out the year with waltzes, marches and song from the City of Music. The Vienna PhilharmonicÕs famous concerts at the Musikverein have made the city, and the music of the Strauss family, synonymous with New Year celebrations.After a year of lockdowns and isolation, Strauss IIÕsÊBlue DanubeÊwaltz offers a rousing welcome to 2022.

Making her Opera North debut, young Italian-Turkish conductorÊNil Venditti, Principal Guest Conductor of Orchestra della Toscana, takes the podium, with Irish sopranoÊM‡ire Flavin, last seen on the Opera North stage as the Countess inÊThe Marriage of Figaro, joining the ensemble for songs and arias by Leh‡r and others.
